Upgrading Wimmera Intermodal Freight Terminal Site

New industrial lots will be built at the Wimmera Intermodal Freight Terminal site, in the hope of improving supply chain efficiency, and reducing costs for Victorian farmers.

Minister for Agriculture Jaala Pulford announced the $1.25 million State Government contribution earlier this week, for Stage 1 of the development.

“By investing in the best infrastructure, we are helping grain growers get more produce from paddock to port more efficiently – that’s good news for growers and Victoria’s booming exports,” she said.

The 100-hectare precinct will become the site of new industrial lots with bitumen road access, street lighting and other amenities for agribusinesses and food and fibre processors establishing operations at the precinct.

The development will create 20 new industrial lots and generate up to 80 jobs.

The Wimmera is one of Victoria's largest dryland farming regions and the Wimmera Intermodal Freight Terminal is a key export hub for local grain producers.

The total upgrade comes at a cost of $2.5 million, with Horsham Rural City Council funding the remaining $1.25 million.
