Woomelang Shopping Precinct Ready for Business
Upgrades to Woomelang's Shopping Precinct have now been completed, providing more opportunities for local businesses and shoppers alike.
Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford officially announced the completion of the project in Parliament today.
“It’s great to announce the Woomelang Shopping Precinct is now finished, open for business, and locals are using and enjoying the benefits of the upgrade.
“This investment will boost economic activity, support business and jobs opportunities, and activate a unique area of the Wimmera region," she said.
Yarriambiack Shire Council identified the Woomelang Shopping Precinct Upgrade as a priority project to help improve the liveability and boost local economic activity.
As a town of around 200 people, the upgrades will provide a big boost, with one equivalent-full-time job created during the construction phase, and two full time jobs retained within the region.
Upgrades include the development of a vacant block next to the community owned café and grocery store into a piazza style meeting place, as well as the creation of a large sheltered space, new car park and landscaping.
The total value of the precinct upgrade is $128,000, with the State Government providing $100,000, and additional funding from the Woomelang and District Development Association of $15,000, and $13,000 donated in-kind.
