Aussie Shortlisted for One-way Trip to Mars

Imagine giving up life as you know it - leaving everyone and everything you love behind, and going on a one-way trip to Mars.

That's exactly what Josh Richards has signed up to do, and will blast off to the red planet in 2031 if selected from a shortlist of 100 candidates.

A physicist, explosives engineer, soldier and stand-up comedian, Mr Richards has a wealth of experience behind him, and is also one of the 2017 ambassadors for National Science Week (August 12-20).

Josh joined Anita on the Country Viewpoint to discuss his potential future in space.
