From Outback to Outer Space - Woomera Shares its History with the World
Flow Outback region Woomera has a fascinating history - it was once the hub of early space activities in Australia and the site of the Woomera Rocket Range during the Anglo-Australia Project.

A new exhibition at the State Library of South Australia aims to showcase Woomera's history and explore what life was like for the men, women and children who lived in the ‘top secret’ outback town.
Space Historian and Curator, Kerrie Dougherty, joined Anita on the Country Viewpoint to discuss the history of the town and what people can expect from the exhibition.
Displays include large scale rocket models together with space artefacts, photographs and archival footage.
Oral histories of former Woomera residents will also provide visitors with a first-hand account of what it was like to live in Woomera in this time.
The exhibition is part of the 68th International Astronautical Congress Cultural Program - the world’s largest annual gathering of space professionals, in Adelaide from September 25-29.
