Patche Journo Goes with the Flow

Patchewollock local Sarah Grigg is bringing her regional experience to Flow FM, since joining the team as a journalist from today.

The up-and-coming media professional knows all about life in regional Australia – growing up as one of five children on a wheat and sheep farm, in Flow FM’s Wimmera Mallee region.

Sarah said although she lived around 65km from the nearest school or supermarket, the experience was never isolating.

“I absolutely love the area and the community because it's made up of so many amazing people and events! There never seems to be a dull moment,” she said.

While completing her double degree in Media and Arts at the University of Adelaide, Sarah was able to gain real hands-on media experience, volunteering at Radio Adelaide and becoming Editor of her Residential College’s magazine.

A worldly journalist, Sarah has travelled extensively, having visited parts of Europe, Japan, South America and Tonga.

Her most recent travels were to America, to work for Camp Vega in their Media department, alongside experienced Mexican Photographers and Filmmakers.

Journalism is not Sarah’s only talent, having just completed time with Parks Victoria as a Project Firefighter in Underbool.

“I got to drive heavy machinery and assist with the Air Base operations, which is something I never expected to do.

“While I was working for Parks I was sent to the Tasmanian Bush Fires in 2016 and several high-country areas around Victoria, which was a vast contrast to the Mallee area in which we were situated,” she said.

With a huge variety of international and local experience behind her, Sarah is a long-time listener of Flow FM and said she’s most excited to be joining the team.

“At Parks I would fight whoever I was in a vehicle with about which radio station we'd listen to, and my pick was always Flow FM! It is also one of the few stations our Chaser Bin picks up over Harvest.

“To be joining the people I've been listening to for a very long time is something really special and I can't wait,” she said.
