Socceroos Star Launches Mighty Menu for Kids

The Socceroos have teamed up with supermarket chain ALDI to create a meal plan designed to provide active children with the nutrients required for healthy growth and development.

The 'ALDI MiniRoos Mighty Menu', is a 7-day meal plan that gives parents simple and nutritious breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, drink and snack options - created especially to satisfy children's taste buds.

According to Socceroos’ Chef & Nutritionist, Vinícius Capovilla, nutrition is essential for providing fuel and energy before heading out on to the field, as well as boosting the recovery process after exercising.

“As the Socceroos get ready to play, my team and I are responsible for making sure each player enjoys a balanced diet to help them achieve their best on the field.

“I want to help active kids across Australia in a similar way with the ALDI MiniRoos Mighty Menu.

“Many parents are still confused when it comes to providing their children with the right amount of nutrients to meet their day-to-day energy needs.

"In particular, kids who perform regular physical activity and practice sport require a higher intake of nutrients such as proteins, amino acids, healthy fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals," he said.

Former Socceroo Archie Thompson is an ALDI MiniRoos ambassador and also joined Capovilla to launch the new meal plan and promote the importance of children’s nutrition in sport.

He spoke to Clayton on the Arvo Flow for more.
