Learner Driver Arrested on Riddoch Highway
A young learner driver was arrested after allegedly failing to stop for police on the Dukes Highway this morning.
The Holden Commodore sedan was spotted by a State Traffic Enforcement motorcycle officer travelling erratically and at high speed on the Dukes Highway around 11am on Wednesday 29 November.
The driver then attempted to evade police, before officers managed to stop the car safely on the Riddoch Highway at Keith.
The driver, a 17-year-old female learner driver from Victoria, was arrested and charged with drive in a manner dangerous, drive to evade police and breaching the conditions of her learner's permit.
She was bailed to appear in the Bordertown Magistrates Court at a later date.
The passenger, a 30-year-old Victorian woman, who was the owner of the vehicle and disqualified from driving, was fined for causing and permitting numerous traffic offences.
The vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
