Lock up Valuables in the Yorke Mid North

Residents in the Yorke Mid North areas are being urged to lock their unattended vehicles after reports of theft in the area.

Over the past week tools have been targeted in thefts from motor vehicles in Kadina, Maitland, Clare and Snowtown.

Number plates were also stolen from Moonta Bay and a GPS from Port Pirie.

Below are some tips to help prevent thefts from motor vehicles.

Remember:

  • If practicable remove all valuable items from your vehicle

  • If tools cannot be removed; arrange appropriate secure storage of your vehicle and tools

  • Secure your vehicle off the road and in a locked garage/carport

  • Install/utilise an alarm system.

  • Consider an alarm for tool boxes attached to utility vehicles

  • Mark or engrave tools with your driver’s licence number prefixed by the letter ‘S’. E.g. S123456

  • Photograph your tools and identify any markings or distinguishing features

The public is reminded if they notice any suspicious behaviour in or around vehicles please contact police by calling 131 444.

Timely reporting can assist police to locate offenders and prevent further crime from occurring.
