Tauragat Well Road Ready for Upgrade

The Southern Mallee community is set to benefit from the Federal Government’s investment in local roads, with $734,000 on the way for Tauragat Well Road near Flow region 96.5fm Geranium.

Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Darren Chester said the Australian Government is committed to improving local roads throughout South Australian, under the Roads to Recovery program.

“This project is a fantastic example of how communities are benefitting from the repair and upgrade of critical local roads,” Mr Chester said.

Federal Member for Barker Tony Pasin MP said local motorists would welcome the project, which will be undertaken this financial year.

“This project will address current issues with the road including poor alignment and insufficient road width for B-Doubles.

"The road services numerous dairies, cattle farms and provides a significant transport route for the local community.

“The works will include full reconstruction and realignment of a 4.5km section of Tauragat Well Road, remediating failing sections of road pavement and to widen the current roadway with a two coat bitumen seal.

“The Roads to Recovery funding for Tauragat Well Road will greatly assist the Council to complete this important upgrade," said Mr Pasin.

Mayor of Southern Mallee District Council, Andrew Grieger said the Federal Government funding had been used to deliver a range of projects within the region, with a focus on local roads.

The Australian Government has committed $734,000 and Southern Mallee District Council has committed $366,000 to fund the $1,100,000 project.
