Limestone Coast Men Charged Over Domestic Assaults

Two men have been arrested in separate domestic assault incidents in the Limestone Coast region over the weekend.

Police arrested and charged a 36–year-old man from the Limestone Coast with aggravated assault and breaching an intervention order on Saturday (6 January).

Police were called to a house following reports of a domestic disturbance.

The arrested man was refused bail and appeared in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court today.

Just before 11pm on Saturday, police were called to Smith Street at Naracoorte following reports of a man and woman arguing in the street.

Police attended and arrested a 21-year-old man for breaching an intervention order and resisting arrest.

He was bailed to appear in the Narracoorte Magistrates Court on 9 February.

Domestic violence is a crime committed by people from all walks of life.

If you’re abusing your partner you should know that police do not need a statement from them to make an arrest.

If we have reasonable grounds, we will arrest you immediately.

And, if you have left the scene we will track you down.

Remember there are no longer any safe houses for those who commit domestic violence.
