Yorketown Man Charged with Firearm and Drug Offences

A man was arrested over firearms and drug offences after Edithburgh and Yorketown patrols searched his home.

Police searched the Yorketown premises on Monday 8 January and allegedly located an insecure lever action rifle and box of ammunition.

Also located were a large quantity of dried cannabis, prescribed equipment, a prohibited weapon and drug smoking implements.

The 54-year-old Yorketown man was arrested and charged with possess firearm without a licence, insecure firearm, possess ammunition, possess cannabis, possess prescribed equipment and possess prohibited weapon.

He was bailed to appear in the Maitland Magistrates Court on 13 February.
