Mid North Dangerous Driver


A man has been charged with a number of traffic offences after a crash in Jamestown this week.


On Wednesday evening (7 February) police received reports of a white Toyota ute driving erratically in the township of Jamestown.

Police attended and searched the area for the car before being alerted to a crash on Jamestown-Whyte Yarcowie Road.

Police and emergency services attended the location and found that the ute had been involved in a collision with another car before driving away from the scene approximately 2km on three tyres, one having being damaged during the collision, and coming to a stop off the road.

The driver of the ute, a 42-year-old man from over-seas was arrested and charged with dangerous driving, fail to stop at scene of a crash and drink driving after he allegedly returned a positive result of 0.181.

He was issued a 12 month loss of licence.

The man was refused bail and appeared at the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on the Thursday 8 February and was remanded in custody until a later court date.
