Firearms Seized in Nuriootpa

A search of a property at Nuriootpa has led to the seizure of a large number of firearms and ammunition yesterday.

Police will allege that about 1pm on Tuesday 13 February, a search was conducted at a Kalimna Road property following the arrest of a man at a Welland Road house for drug and firearms offences on 10 February.

As a result, a 41-year-old Nuriootpa man was reported for numerous firearms licence breaches.

11 firearms and the man’s firearms licence were seized, as well as approximately 1000 rounds of ammunition.

A report will also be compiled and sent to the Firearms Registrar with recommendation to have his licence cancelled.

The man will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
