Drink Driver Arrested After Car Stolen in Clare

Police have arrested a man after he ran from a stolen vehicle yesterday at Clare.

Sometime between 8am and 11.30am on Thursday 1 March, a Holden utility was stolen from New Road.

Just after 2pm, a member of the public located the vehicle resting against the gates to his premises and called police.

Upon arrival, patrols saw the man run from the utility however, he was located a short distance away and arrested.

The driver was breath tested and returned an alleged blood alcohol reading 0.303 - more than six times the legal limit.

The 22-year-old from Brinkworth has been charged with drink driving and illegal use and has been bailed to appear in the Clare Magistrates Court on 14 May.
