Burra Drink Drivers not Getting the Message


Several drivers were detected drink driving in Burra in the past eight days.


At about 9.30pm on Friday 9 March, police stopped a 66-year-old man from Burra driving a Mazda sedan on Market Street and breath tested him.

He returned an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.119.

He was issued with a six month immediate loss of licence and his care was clamped for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

The just after 8.40pm on Wednesday 13 March, police stopped a 55-year-old man from Paralowie driving a Toyota utility on Market Street and breath tested him.

He returned an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.103. ams of alcohol in 210 litres of breath.

He was issued with a six month immediate loss of licence and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

At about 10pm on Saturday 17 March, police stopped a 62-year-old woman from Burra driving a Toyota 4WD on Kingston Street and breath tested her.

She returned an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.065.

She was issued with an on the spot fine for drink driving.

Brevet Sergeant Jessica Gerschwitz said, “the message is simple - there is no excuse for drink driving and we will continue to stop and test those drivers who put others at risk”.
