Speeding South East P-plater Loses Licence
A speeding P-plater has lost his licence on the spot after being caught at more than 60 km/h over the speed limit in the State's South East yesterday afternoon.
Just after 4.30pm on Easter Monday, 2 April, a Limestone Coast Highway Patrol detected a speeding vehicle at 173 km/h in a 110 km/h zone on the Riddoch Highway, Padthaway.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 24-year-old Mount Gambier man, was issued with a fine of $1483 and 9 demerit points for speeding and breaching the conditions of his provisional licence.
This resulted in an immediate six month loss of licence.
Police will continue to have a highly visible presence on South Australian roads and urge all motorists to take extra care.
