Three to Face Court after Barossa Birds Stolen
Nuriootpa Police along with Detectives from Barossa CIB have arrested three youths following prompt information from the public.
Between Monday 26 March and Tuesday 27 March, thieves gained entry to bird cages at a Nuriootpa business on two separate occasions and stole a number of Princess Parrots, Love Birds, Kakarikis, Turquoise Parrots, Pied Elegants and Quails.
Information from the public led police to a nearby town the following day (Wednesday 28 March) where they attended an address north of Nuriootpa and recovered some of the stolen birds.
Police then attended an address in Nuriootpa where they recovered six more birds.
A 16-year-old and a 15-year-old boy from Nuriootpa and a 17-year-old boy from the Barossa, were all reported for two counts of unlawfully on premises, two counts of theft and two counts of property damage.
The trio will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
