Urana Bowls Shaves The Day

Since 1998, Australian's have been gathering to participate in the World's Greatest Shave.

A Leukemia Foundation initiative to help beat blood cancer where participants either shave or colour their hair in a way to raise money for the foundation.

Up in Flow's 88.7 region, the Urana Bowling Club put on a big show in efforts to raise some well needed funds for the foundation.

Overall the day was a huge success with a total of money raised being $3,529.00.

Over 50 people attended the event where 3 community members Lorraine Bourke, David Crossingham and Lewis Commins all shaved their heads.

Both David and Lewis had their beards and eyebrows shaved and Lorraine's pony tail will be donated and used to make a wig.

Reports say it was a rather hot afternoon for bowls but combine that with a cake stall and an auction formed by many local businesses within the Urana community, a great day was still had.
