Supporting Mental Health in our Regional Communities

Mental health issues can affect anyone at anytime, with almost one in five Australians having experienced symptoms of a mental disorder, according to national media initiative, Mindframe.

In our regional and farming communities we know mental health issues can often be more prevalent due to a range of contributing factors, but the support services are not always as easily accessible for those in need.

The National Centre for Farmer Health (NCFH) in conjunction with a range of organisations is working to address the lack of mental health services in regional Australian communities through a range of programs and initiatives.

Dr Alison Kennedy is a NCFH Researcher and spoke to Flow FM's Country Viewpoint for more information, including where people can go if they feel they are struggling.
