Is Gonski 2.0 Just More of the Same?
The Gonski 2.0 report, or to give it its true title ‘Through Growth to Achievement’, makes the point strongly that Australian educational standards are falling.
This is evident in the report itself the authors of which seem incapable of writing plain English.
Take recommendation 10 as an example.
It says: “Accelerate the development of contemporary pedagogy through the use of collaboration, mentoring, observation and feedback, including from colleagues and students, by incorporating these practices into the core role of teachers and creating the conditions to enable teachers to engage in them.”
This may mean something to those steeped in the mystiques of educational theory but it is inscrutable to ordinary readers.
