Residents in Port Lincoln and Streaky Bay have advised of phone calls from a man purporting to work for Telstra advising of internet issues on home computers which he is able to fix via remote access after a small fee is paid.
The residents who have reported the calls to police have described the person seeking their details as very persuasive and believable.
Police strongly recommend you never provide personal information or credit card particulars over the telephone to a person you cannot identify in an official capacity.
Community members are reminded that scammers can be very persuasive, and that you should always take steps to independently verify the source of unsolicited callers.
