Mid North Weekend Drink Drivers Caught
Two men have lost their licences and cars in the Mid North region after being caught drink driving over the weekend.
Just after 11pm Saturday 19 May, police stopped a car travelling in on Daly Street in Clare and breath tested the driver.
The 23-year-old local man allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.211.
The man was reported for drink driving and issues an instant loss of licence for 12 months, his car was also impounded for 28 days. He will face court at a later date.
Just before 12.30pm Sunday 20 May, police were conducting speed detection duties on the Augusta Highway when they detected a car travelling at 147km/h in a 110km/h zone.
Police stopped the car and spoke to the driver, a 48-year-old Salisbury North who was also submitted to a breath test allegedly returning a positive reading of 0.181.
He was reported for speeding and drink driving while his car was impounded for 28 days and he lost his licence on the spot for 12 months.
He will be summonsed to court at a later date.
