Coober Pedy Drink Drivers Caught


Three people will face court after being caught drink driving in Coober Pedy this week.

Just before 11pm Saturday 30 June police spotted a white Isuzu truck travelling on Hutchinson Street.

Police stopped the truck and breath tested the driver, a 28-year-old local man, who allegedly returned a positive result of 0.179.

The truck was also defected for having no breaks, no tread on the rear tyres, nil indicator, faulty seatbelts, no speedometer and a cracked front windscreen.

The man was reported for a number of offences including drink driving and fail to maintain vehicle standards.

The man was issued an instant loss of licence for 12 months and his truck was impounded for 28 days. He will appear at court at a later date.


Just after 7pm Tuesday 3 July police spotted a Holden station wagon travelling on Flat Hill Road.

Police stopped the car and breath tested the driver, a 52-year-old local man, who allegedly returned a positive result of 0.104.

The man was reported for drink driving and issued a six month loss of licence.

His car was impounded for 28 days and he will appear in court at a later date.

About 8.20pm Tuesday 3 July police spotted a Mitsubishi ute travelling on Willcox Street.

Police stopped the car and breath tested the driver, a 39-year-old local man, who allegedly returned a positive result of 0.210.

The man was reported for a number of traffic offences including drink driving and driving unlicenced.

He was issued a 12 month loss of licence and his car was impounded for 28 days.

He will appear in court at a later date.
