Regional Rate Values on the Rise?


With local Councils releasing their 2018/2019 draft budgets over the past month, a number of regional towns across the Flow coverage area have been hit hard with differential rate value percentage increases.

Within the Wimmera Mallee in Victoria, several communities have come together in public meetings and protests to show their councils how they feel the percentage increases on farming land values are unfair.

To explain the situation within the Mallee community, Ian Hastings a local farmer, joined Sarah on the Regional Roundup.


President of the Victorian Farmers Federation, David Jochinke, also joined Sarah to talk about the situation.


Over in SA, the Yorke Peninsula Primary Production Landholders have also been faced with an increase.

After weeks of community consultation, local farmer Breton Davey, talked about the issue today on the Regional Roundup.
