Two Youths Arrested Over Murray Bridge Thefts
Police have arrested two youths following a handbag snatch at Murray Bridge this afternoon.
About 1.45pm on Friday 27 July, an elderly woman was loading groceries into her car at a shopping centre on Swanport Road when a boy walked past and grabbed her handbag from her arm.
The boy ran off in company with another boy.
The woman was not physically injured.
Minutes later a witness reported seeing two youths in Standen Street throw items into a nearby yard.
Patrols quickly searched the area and apprehended one suspect walking nearby and the second suspect was found at a home close by.
Officers recovered the victim’s bag and contents and returned them to her.
Police will allege that the two boys were also involved in a similar theft yesterday where a woman had her purse stolen at Murray Bridge.
Two Murray Bridge boys aged 13 and 15 were charged with two counts of aggravated theft.
They have been refused police bail and are expected to appear in the Murray Bridge Youth Court on Monday.
