Barossa Festival Calls for Community Events

Planning for the 2019 Barossa Vintage Festival is officially underway, following the recent appointment of new Festival Director, Jenny O’Brien.

Jenny is thriving in the new role and has commenced the ambitious task of planning the 2019 program, which all kicks off with a community information session Tuesday July 31, from 5- 6.30pm at The Wine Room, Yalumba.

Event registrations will then open from Wednesday, August 1, with Jenny and the Tourism Barossa team encouraging members of the community and local businesses to start planning their 2019 events.

“Our community information session is a great opportunity for me to not only meet members of the community but to also hear their ideas, concepts and plans for their 2019 Vintage Festival event,” Jenny said.

“In 2017 we saw over 90 dynamic events that showcased the Barossa’s wine, food, culture and heritage.

"I hope to see the 2019 program emulate that of 2017 in terms of the number and diversity of events.

"I also look forward to hearing new ideas for next year’s Festival.

“The Vintage Festival is a Festival run by the community, for the community.

"The history of the festival, and its strong traditions, will continue with our 2019 program celebrating all the region has to offer.

“We look forward to celebrating the 40th anniversary of Ziegenmarkt which is without a doubt a highlight of the biennial program and 2019 also marks the 10-year anniversary of the Young Ambassador Program – a program which is providing endless opportunities for young professionals in our region.”

The Festival Director is also looking to hear from local businesses and organisations who want to align themselves with and support the iconic event, which is recognised right across Australia.

“The Barossa Vintage Festival is a true community festival that relies heavily on the support of local businesses and community,” she said.

“If you are interested in becoming a sponsor of the 2019 Festival, I would love to hear from you.”

The Barossa Vintage Festival will be held from 24-29 August 2019.

In respect of ANZAC Day, no Vintage Festival events will be programmed prior to 12 noon on April 25.

Jenny and the Vintage Festival committee will be working with the local RSL’s and community leaders where possible to support their ANZAC Day activities and events.
