Arrest in Tailem Bend after Car Stolen
A man was arrested after he was seen driving a stolen car in Tailem Bend yesterday.
Police will allege that just before 8.50am on Tuesday 31 July, patrols were called to Railway Terrace after reports that a man was being detained by members of the public after he had stolen their car, a silver Ford hatchback, during a break-in at Murray Bridge on the same day.
Police had earlier received reports of other similar crimes in the Murray Bridge area, with two cars being broken into in Joy Street, where the break-in occurred.
Upon arrival in Railway Terrace, police located the driver of the stolen car being held by two members of the public.
Police located the keys to the stolen vehicle in the man’s pocket, and he was arrested.
A quantity of property police believe to be stolen was located in the car including a chainsaw, drill and impact driver.
The male was also found in possession of a set of lock picks.
The 22-year-old Murray Bridge man was charged with numerous offences including aggravated serious criminal trespass, illegal use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession and theft.
He was bailed to appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on 10 September.
