No Return for Clare Classic

A decision by the Clare and Gilbert Valley Councillors to not return the Clare Classic cycling event for 2019 was made last week at a workshop discussion.

The event which ran in April 2018, was chosen by Australia's leading cycling media brand Bicycling Australia, following the success of the inaugural Bowral Classic last October.

Organisers had asked for funding support for the event, but the 2018/19 council business plan had not budgeted for the event. A lack of support from the State Government was also contributed to the event absence from the 2019 calendar.

With hopes that the Clare Classic can return in 2020, the Clare and Gilbert Valley Council invite you to contact CEO Dr Helen Macdonald or Mayor Allen Aughley OAM for comments.

You can phone the office on (08) 884 26 400, or visit the website at claregilbertvalleys.sa.gov.au.
