Long Kayak for Lungs Flowing through the Regions
42 days, 2,200km, one kayak and one man - Bill van Nierop was diagnosed with the lung disease Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) in 2015 and is now paddling down the Murray River from Albury to SA's Murray Mouth, raising awareness and funds for the Lung Foundation Australia.
Called The Long Kayak for Lungs, it follows on from Bill's Long Walk for Lungs challenge last year, which initiated a PHD Scholarship in IPF research, helped the Lung Foundation's Patient Support groups, and contributed to funding for a future respiratory nurse to support patients across Australia.
