Building Buloke 2030 Plans Ready for Action
The Building Buloke 2030 Project is nearing completion, with all 10 draft community plans now released for public consultation.
The project, which has been partially funded under the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund, provides respective plans for each Buloke town including: Birchip, Berriwillock, Charlton, Culgoa, Donald, Nandaly, Nullawil, Sea Lake, Watchem, Wycheproof and their respective surrounding districts.
They describe the community’s long term vision and aspirations and are a way of directly involving residents in future planning.
An overall integrated plan brings the 10 community plans together, and has also been released for public consultation.
It will inform Council’s planning processes over the next three planning phases up to 2030, and guide the direction of a range of key stakeholder organisations and groups that are connected to the Buloke Shire communities.
The key vision to come out of the project is: "In 2030 we will be…..A healthy, socially connected, inclusive and accessible community with a prosperous economy offering services, amenities and activities that match our desired liveability."
Mayor David Pollard commented on the success of the Building Buloke 2030 project.
“The Building Buloke 2030 Project has been a large scale planning exercise that enjoyed tremendous support from the community.
"The community has owned the planning for their towns and districts and the Integrated Plan reflects this vision.
"These 11 documents will now become the pillars of our planning for the next ten years and beyond and we all have another chance to feed into the direction we are set to head in”, Mayor Pollard said..
The 10 Community Plans and the Integrated Community Plan are now all available on Council’s website or in hard copy from the Wycheproof office. Pop-up consultations are also happening in local towns over the next few weeks.
