Riverland Police Target Drink and Drug Drivers
Riverland Police detected a number of drink and drug drivers over the weekend.
Motorists are reminded that police have the powers to stop any vehicle, on any road, at any time and request the driver submit to breath analysis.
Just after 6.30pm on Friday 19 October, a 22-year-old Waikerie man tested positive for cannabis when stopped while driving on White Street, Waikerie.
About 7.30pm, a 39-year-old Taylorville man tested positive for methylamphetamine after he was stopped on West Road, Waikerie.
Just after 8.40pm, a 49-year-old Waikerie man tested positive for methamphetamine when he was stopped on West Road, Waikerie.
Just after 7.15pm on Saturday 20 October, a 26-year-old Waikerie man tested positive for a combination of cannabis and methamphetamine when he was stopped by police on White Street, Waikerie.
About 8.45pm, police detected a speeding motorist travelling at 99 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on the Sturt Highway at Waikerie.
The driver, a 48-year-old Waikerie man, also tested positive for cannabis.
About 10pm, a 28-year-old Waikerie woman tested positive to methamphetamine when stopped on Peake Terrace, Waikerie.
All drivers were issued with 24 hour driver direction notices and the samples will be sent for further testing.
