Man Arrested Over Copper Theft
A Waikerie man will face court after he was arrested for allegedly stealing copper piping from a Barmera business premises.
Just before 6am on Monday 5 November, police patrols were called to a business premises on Ritchie Street after a member of the public reported seeing a man stacking items on a pallet.
On police arrival they located the man who was wearing gloves and carrying tools, had allegedly stolen a quantity of copper piping.
Police made further enquiries and searched the man's home allegedly find a small amount cannabis growing hydroponically.
The 49-year-old man from Waikerie was arrested and charged with theft, being on premises for an unlawful purpose and going equipped to commit an offence.
He was also reported for cultivating and possession of cannabis.
The arrested man was refused police bail and appear in the Berri Magistrates Court yesterday.
