Man Arrested Over Bordertown Break-Ins
A man has been arrested after he was caught breaking into cars at Bordertown early this morning.
About 2.30pm the occupants of a Salom Street home were awoken by noises outside and disturbed a man breaking into their cars parked in the driveway and front yard.
The occupant confronted the man but he ran off, leaving behind his wallet containing his ID. A UHF Radio, a purse and cash were stolen during the incident.
Police will allege that the man gained entry to the home and stole keys belonging to the cars.
Bordertown police searched the area and located the suspect nearby.
Police also found a bag left behind by the suspect which contained other property believed to have been stolen from other incidents.
Bordertown police are urging residents to check their homes and cars and report any thefts that may have occurred.
A 25-year-old man from Bordertown was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft and illegal interference of a motor vehicle.
He was refused police bail and will appear in Mount Gambier Magistrates Court today.
