Seafood Industry calls for labelling transparency


The paddock to plate philosophy - knowing exactly where your food has come from - is a notion consumers in Australia increasingly tend to seek, and knowing the origins of our food should extend beyond the boundaries of land and into our oceans.


CEO of Seafood Industry Australia, Jane Lovell, caught up with Clayton ahead of Australia Day, to discuss the need for transparency when it comes to the labelling of seafood.

In an election year, Ms Lovell discussed the need to give consumer the right of choice and for the Australian Government to introduce legislation so the foodservice sector has to label seafood with its country of origin, just like seafood retailers do.
