INTERVIEW: South Australian Fisheries Minister Tim Whetstone
The South Australian Snapper Fishery is on the verge of collapse. Data gathered by researchers have confirmed this is the case and the data has prompted Fisheries Minister Tim Whetstone to act decisively.
The Minister has released a discussion paper that looks at two scenarios, one of which will be implemented on October 1st.
Both scenarios call for a 3 year ban on Snapper fishing in Gulf St Vincent and Spencer Gulf.
The discussion paper is open for public comment through until the end of the month and Jason "caught" up with Minister Whetstone to discuss how it all went wrong with Snapper in SA waters and what this decision means for people involved in the fishing industry across the state.
